Do what your mama says

We all think our kids don't listen to us EVER! I know I constantly feel like a nag repeating myself on important life issues with the kids only to get the eyeroll or the look like I have no clue what I am talking about. Dom got a nice amount of money from both his parties. I told him please don't spend that on stupid stuff try to save it so you have it. His party at his dad's house was last weekend and he got even more money. He called me today at work to see if he could come up to my work to see if his IPOD was in my car this was how the conversation went:

Dom: Mom can I come and look for my IPOD in your car?

Me: Sure Dom Why?

Dom: The last time I had it was in your car at the dentist and I can't find it. I need it to work out I can't work out without it. If I don't find it in your car I am gonna go buy a new one cuz I need it to work out. In fact I want to get the IPOD touch.

Me: I think you should look all over for it before you buy a new one.

Dom: Yeah mom I have been trying to rationalize in my head spending $220.00 on a new one. It is different when your spending your own money. Ya know that $100.00 I took out of the bank last week well I still have $90.00 of it.

Me: Well that is good I am glad your being conservative with your money.

Dom: Do you think it is a bad thing that I spend $220.00 on one to treat myself?

Me: No but I still think you should look for it.

Dom: Mom I understand how it is now when it is your money.

Me: AHAAAAA you finally get it.

This was a nice moment for me in fact I have been basking in the glory of it all day. You think they never listen but obviously he has listened to me! That is a great accomplishment.

In other news my twins had a little drinking party with their step brother (a police officer) after the party. They were playing beer pong with him and his friends. Talk about being pissed. I was sooooo mad! I called their dad and told him this and he was equally pissed. I am dissappointed at the twins too but I remember being that age and I did it too. We all did it I just feel like this is so different now because it is my kids. I was just trying to explain to them that in a non controlled environment anything can happen. I was not ok with the fact that Sarah was with a bunch of drunk 23 year olds. The step brother did not even remember playing beer pong with them that is how drunk he was. Just a stupid situation all together. I think they have learned their lesson tho. Between me and their dad I think we got our point accross. It was offered to Dom too but he refused. I swear my kids have such different personalities.

It is beautiful outside I did not even come in last night until 10:40. I was cleaning my car and enjoying the weather. Tomorrow night are the Detroit Fireworks which my husband has never seen. They are amazing!!! We are packing a cooler with food and beverages and heading down there. It is gonna be in the 90's tomorrow. It should be fun.

Colleen came home today after being gone for a week to Conneticut. I missed her terribly. I told Nick we have that love hate sister thing going on. I could not wait for her to come home! I bitch about her being up my ass when she is home then when she is gone I am missing her go figure LOL.
